Afrocinematika is a showcase of powerful, innovative short science fiction films that shines a light on Women of Afrofuturism. These films represent a new approach to speculative storytelling in film, one that centers the Black experience while reflecting agency, culture, science, technology and intersection with the unknown. Afrocinematika is the next wave of afrofuturist film: thought-provoking Black science fiction expressed through compelling cinematic storytelling that is truly free.
This showcase is presented by SFO Museum in conjunction with the Women of Afrofuturism exhibit in Terminal 1 at San Francisco International Airport.
The event is free and open to the public (pre-security), but tickets are required.
